I don't even know where to start. We've only been here for 2 days and have already experienced so much.
The flight was quite pleasant and not fully booked, so we could all spread out. Then the shock in Windhoek: we got off the plane at 6 am at 1° Celsius and almost froze. So, after the smooth handover of the rental car and travel documents, it was time for some shopping. We all stocked up on warm jackets, scarves, and hats 🙉
Our first stop was the beautiful Kalahari Anib Lodge. After a short rest by the pool, our first sundowner tour in an open jeep through the Kalahari began. And the wildlife luck was on our side: springboks, wildebeests, zebras, ostriches, antelopes, and warthogs were running alongside our jeep. We then had gin and tonic and beer on a dune at sunset, what more could you want.
Today, we continued on a 250 km long, but well-maintained gravel road through the Kalahari to the Kalahari Game Lodge. The lodge is located in a private reservoir where zebras, giraffes, and ostriches roam. The rooms are incredibly beautiful and we are almost the only guests here.
We just enjoyed the view of the vastness of the Kalahari from a viewpoint, and now we are lazily lying by the pool in the sun, drinking Kalahari Coffee (coffee with a generous shot of whiskey).
