What do you say or write about a country that fascinated me from the first moment? As soon as I arrived in Auckland at the airport without having seen anything of the country, it was clear to me that big things were waiting for me in this country. As I was waiting for the bus between the airport and the city, a little girl suddenly came up to me and gave me a complete hug without prior notice. A short time later she declared me her new best friend (“sorry Ruby❣️”). That was the moment when New Zealand made it into my heart. So it took less than an hour to convince me of this country.
New Zealand has so many different facets, starting with the super friendly people, breathtaking landscapes and really no nice cities. But anyone who comes to New Zealand to take a city trip has probably missed the destination. But even the fact that most of the cities are really shabby has its charm for me. I personally traveled and experienced New Zealand by bus and hitchhiking. Hitchhiking also allowed me to look behind the scenes of the country and its people. But if I come back to New Zealand, definitely by car or, ideally, a van. This makes traveling in New Zealand so much more flexible, easier and, above all, away from the tourist hotspots. That's exactly why I really enjoyed our road trip the last two weeks because we could go wherever we wanted. So yes, my plan for next time in New Zealand is already in place 🫣
On the mountain in the morning and on the surfboard in the afternoon until sunset, life could be worse. This is exactly the lifestyle that New Zealanders radiate and live through and through. Life is lived and enjoyed here, working is not the top priority here (at least for the majority of people here). New Zealanders are not even remotely familiar with stress as we know it. Everything is viewed and handled in a much more relaxed manner. That's exactly what makes traveling in New Zealand so incredibly magical for me. I traveled to New Zealand without any great expectations and it became so much more than just a stop on my trip around the world. One thing is clear: I'll be back! ☀️🫶🏼
