On 23.08. I took the Shinkansen for 2 hours to Fukuoka, the largest city on the island of Kyushu. There I was warmly greeted by my host Keita.
After settling in, I took a stroll through the city. I visited a Buddhist temple that had a huge wooden Buddha statue. There was also a gallery of demon pictures that one could only escape through a dark tunnel, at the end of which Buddha was sitting.
After the temple, I visited a shrine where there was a huge intricately decorated Yamakasa float on display.
In the evening, Keita and I went to the famous Yatai street restaurants, where we enjoyed various Japanese specialties (including skewered chicken innards), and then we went to the park for a beer.
