Ingresso in Perù e Lima

Pubblicato: 10.08.2017

After saying goodbye to our wonderful hosts in Guayaquil, we made our way to the Terminal Terrestre, the largest bus station we have ever seen. The station spans three levels and has nearly 110 terminals. We chose the bus company Cruz del Sur and were very satisfied. The seats are exceptionally comfortable and the meals and entertainment program are very good!

At the border, we experienced the South American leisureliness and spent almost three hours with immigration (there were 2 counters for about 80 people).

After crossing the border, and a police check, our 31-hour journey went without problems. The landscape here in Peru is very barren, with hardly any vegetation. Deserts with some mountains in the background stretch over large parts of our route.

We arrived in Lima at around 10 pm and took a taxi to our wonderful hotel Casa Suyana in Miraflores, Lima.

The next morning, an excellent intercontinental breakfast awaited us. Well-fortified, we took a bus to the old town. Once there, we visited the National Library, the Basilica and Convent of San Francisco with its impressive catacombs, and a small textile market.

The old town is characterized by well-preserved colonial buildings from the 17th century with some Romanesque elements. Due to a demonstration and the resulting increased police presence, we were denied access to the Plaza de Mayor and had to be content with a few snapshots, but this did not in any way affect our good mood. Lima, which has as many inhabitants as the whole of Austria, is an impressive city, and in the Miraflores district, which is very western, we felt very safe and comfortable!

After a short detour to the hotel, we took a leisurely stroll to Sanguchería La Lucha and enjoyed an exceptionally good sandwich with sweet potato chips.

Today, we still have a little walk through Miraflores on the program and then we will continue to Cusco by plane (for now, we have had enough of long bus rides ;) ) !

Good night!
