Back to the island

Christian and I had planned to spend midsummer in Norway. BUT an accident and a broken brake have messed everything up. The brakes are working again, but despite the welding work, Palumbi is not like it was a year ago, so no more mountain passes...

Then we came up with the idea of ending our great year where it started. That was Christian's 💡 idea, which I think is great. Why Great Britain again? Simple answer: I'm an Anglophile, I like the language, the mentality and so on...

Now we are back in Kent, we had a real odyssey in Calais, because it is the summer half term AND the Champions League final in Great Britain, so it was extremely busy, there were also construction sites and only a few open counters at the border controls, we were there much too early, so we basically got straight onto the ship. Traveling at midday is perhaps not always great!

Now it's time to relax more, we're staying in one place longer because we're training with SARDA Kent again. Plus, we were in the South of France 2 weeks ago, so let's relax!

Blean and our campsite make this easy, there is a great, currently somewhat muddy forest with lots of hiking trails, really beautiful! 🤩

There is also a cuckoo here that starts calling in the morning! Since Casablanca we have had a loud companion at EVERY stop, the loudest being in Gouveia...

Our hosts James and Aby surprise us with their amazing talents, James rivals any Italian pizzaiolo (pizza maker) when it comes to heating up his wood-fired oven, Aby runs a great cafe that offers cakes, baps, sandwiches and much more. I love the matcha latte with real matcha powder!

Today we did laundry in the 🦪 oyster stronghold of Whitstaple and went to a nice café. We'll be back on Monday or Tuesday when it's quieter! It's almost the same distance from here to Canterbury, what's not to like? 👍🏿
