After weeks of preparation, planning, and renovating the car and caravan, we finally set off on our tour!
First, the dogs had to be dewormed and our amazing vet, Meta Lahn from the Pattenham Veterinary Practice, gave them a care package. REALLY AWESOME!
Then we left at around 11 am and of course encountered some slow traffic on the way. Overall, it wasn't too bad because it was much worse heading south.....
We arrived at our destination at around 2:30 pm. It's a farm shop that sells ice cream and dairy products in Altheim/Alb. We definitely had some ice cream, of course! Highly recommended, Märkles Hofeis even had chocolate chili flavor!
The farm cat also paid us a visit, much to the delight of our two black dogs, but we still took them for a nice hike to the Stone Age.
Our hiking destination was the Fohlenhaus, a collection of caves from the Stone Age. The path led through former swamp area, but everything is rather dried out at the moment, not like the pre-alpine region where we live. We had a great time and ended the evening with a small snack.
One thing just dawned on me. We do have water with us, but I underestimated how much our two black dogs drink daily and even more after hikes. That's not a problem, but it emphasizes the importance of having access to H2O at the campsite or overnight location. We should pay more attention to that in the future!
