After a slightly cloudy start to the day, we drove several hundred kilometers before making our first stop and having breakfast at 1 pm. We simply drove aimlessly off the highway and parked wherever we found it beautiful. We spread avocado and chorizo on our baguette and enjoyed the Spanish provincial idyll.
Our main destination of the day was Santiago di Compostela, where we arrived around 5 pm. It was raining heavily, as it had been for the past few hours, so we only made a short visit to the cathedral. We admired the many pilgrims, and our desire to walk the Camino de Santiago ourselves grew. Perhaps our next goal?
Afterwards, we set off again and reached our next stop for the night, driving through beautiful landscapes. Unfortunately, it's hard to capture the beauty in photos, but we can only recommend such a road trip to everyone. Even though the time for so many places is very short, it is a unique experience.
In the evening, we arrived at our campsite "Camping Santa tecla" in a Guarda around 8 pm. We are now practically at the border with Portugal.
We were very happy and delighted because the campsite is absolutely recommended and has impeccable sanitary facilities for a change. Due to the rain and the limited choice of restaurants near the campsite, we had dinner at the restaurant on the campsite tonight. Finally, tapas - we've been looking forward to it for days! Well fed and with a nice bottle of red wine, we say goodnight and look forward to tomorrow's journey to Portugal to reach our first longer stop, "Sintra," for the next 4 days.
