02.11. Abandoned Water Park

Today, in the morning, we went by bike to a grave site, the Tu Duc Tomb. After many hills up and down and a stop at a beautiful Buddhist temple, we reached our destination. The former kings and clergy definitely found a very nice place for their final rest. Many gravestone buildings adorned with colorful ornaments were arranged around a larger pond planted with water lilies, so you could take a nice walk through the complex and marvel at the craftsmanship of past times. It was unbearably hot again! It must have been over 30 degrees because it was almost unbearable outside the shade.

A nice extra was the performance of a group of women who played old songs on traditional instruments and sang in an open house by the water lily pond.

After visiting the grave site, we continued to a rather unusual destination - an abandoned water park that was never completed. Officially, you are not allowed to enter the park at the main entrance, but you can enter the park through a back entrance with a local resident by paying some money. First, we passed a large dragon-shaped building.

Presumably, this dragon was intended as a restaurant, museum, and observatory for the park, as there were many niches for small shops and smashed display cases for exhibits or possibly even for animals, but it could no longer be recognized. We were able to climb up to the dragon's mouth, where we played a round of cards, which we always bring on excursions.
