After visiting Hacienda Xaxcopoil, there were two more Mayan ruins on the itinerary for the day. The first one involved going up high, and the second one involved going down deep.
First, we visited Uxmal, which stood out mainly because of its impressive Governor's Palace. The ruins in Uxmal are so well-preserved that it feels like the Mayans have just recently moved out. After that, we went to the nearby Loltun Cave. This cave was also inhabited by the Mayans and was simply breathtaking. In reality, it is not like the caves we imagine. When our guide told us at the beginning that at its peak, 3,000 people lived here, nobody could imagine it. We were proven wrong. Underground, there are hidden chambers. Large halls adorned with stalactites and stalagmites.
