No power to everyday life

Pubblicato: 03.07.2017

Hello my dears,

They always say that when everyday life sets in, it becomes boring, that also happens at the other end of the world and since you can't be bored when experiencing your big adventure, you have to do something about it.

My first step was to join the self-defense course, I still think it's great and enjoy every hour. Not only do I learn something new every hour, but the movement itself and getting to know other people does me good.

In addition, it's difficult to establish an everyday routine when you have new roommates every two weeks, even if that stops now. My landlords have found new tenants and two new couples moved in last week. Matt (from Great Britain) and Ansley (from the USA) and Maria and Rudolf from Germany. Now I live with 4 couples which isn't as terrible as you might think, because most of the men can cook and the kitchen always smells absolutely fantastic, and everyone feels sorry for me because I'm here alone without my partner, which is why I can try new food more often, or like yesterday, I was allowed to drink really delicious mulled wine. I was also surprised about myself, but it was really tasty. Don't worry, I have already announced that I would like to have the recipe, because I will be back in Germany just in time for mulled wine season again ;)

My job has also decided that having a regular weekly schedule is uncool. On Friday, I was allowed to go home after a one-hour meeting because they didn't have any work for me. That made me really angry. Not to mention the loss of earnings. Unfortunately, today on Monday (03.07.) it doesn't look any better, but at least I used the day off for a walk and hopefully later I will go to a shopping center with one of my roommates. Not necessarily to buy something, but because the center looks so cool from the outside when driving by.

Other than that, I'm planning my trip because it finally starts in August. Then it's goodbye Christchurch and hello rest of the South Island. At the moment, the rough plan is to drive through the middle towards the south, visit a couple of lakes along the way, and then spend a few days learning to snowboard in Queenstown. After that, it's off to the fjords before heading further south and then back up the east coast towards Christchurch. When the time comes, I will of course report in more detail.

Until then,

Jessi
