June 13, 2021 - Annoyed!

Pubblicato: 18.06.2021

We have 2 hay racks here. The day before yesterday we reported that one rack will be empty by the end of that day. Yesterday the same with the second one. We make sure to report this early. The goal is that nothing is needed on Sunday (day off for those who do it). So... since last night, the horses have no hay. That's why they have now eaten the remaining bedding straw. It makes me angry. So, I said in the chat that even if it's Sunday, I expect us to have hay until noon. Then there were many excuses why it was forgotten and if we didn't tell the "man" who brings it?! We never agreed on that. So... I entered it in the translator, Nick then went to him and told him. He said he still had to do something, today is "safari tour" but he will come afterwards. When he finally came, he put it in front of our horses' paddock. He was alone and I had a stallion with me and couldn't go to the mares. Before I could move him and help him, he was already gone. At 2:30 p.m., it was still there. We couldn't let the horses on the grass, as they were either working on it with their machines, unloading hay, or the stallions were outside. When the first horses started walking on the manure heap and picking out some straw, I was really mad!!! I know it doesn't change anything and I won't change them... I can only partially influence how the animals are kept here. But: 2 out of 7 mares belong to us and I don't accept that!!!

Since the bales are too heavy (estimated to be about 300 kg...), we can't just put them in. So Nick got his tension set from the car. Then we threaded the straw ropes and attached them to the car. I slowly drove into the paddock, hoping that nothing would break. Then we lifted the rack over the bale. When no one came by 8:00 p.m., we did the same with the second bale. Nick placed two iron rods and wanted to pull the bale in with the car. It moved the rack. So we did it manually.

Horses should not have feeding breaks longer than 4 hours. I refused to work the horses like this as they became really difficult and restless. At noon, I lunged 1 mare and worked one stallion twice who was not affected. I still had a gelding and other horses besides the mares on the list. I was so annoyed that in the late afternoon I gave a horse an injection with Nick and then went to sleep and didn't do anything!
