Today was our last stage of the day on the bike, we have reached our provisional destination, the Atlantic. We'll still be on the road a bit on our adventure trip, but we won't be sitting on the bike all day anymore.
That's why we started very early today, still in the dark. Breakfast with yoghurt and oatmeal in the room at 6:30 a.m., a coffee to start at 7:00 a.m. on the street and then off towards Huelva, still with the light on the bike. We experienced a fascinating sunrise again and - out of sheer respect for the heat - were very sporty on the road. Cool at first, warm from 9:30 a.m., hot from 11:00 a.m. (35°) But by 11:00 a.m. we were already at our destination because we only allowed ourselves one more coffee break on the way on a beautiful church square.
We were allowed to move into our accommodation in a family hotel at 12:00 p.m., so that we could take our luggage to the room and park the bikes safely in the garage. We treated ourselves to a siesta in the shade of the air conditioning in the room and then went off to explore the city in the late afternoon. Compared to Seville there is a real drop in temperature, only 39°, but still exhausting and tiring, so we cooled down early in a bar in the shade with wine and beer.
Not much will happen in Huelva today, we buy water for the night, maybe go out to eat something tonight, and sleep our last night on the Spanish mainland. Tomorrow our "day's stage" consists of 16 km to the port where the ferry to Lanzarote departs.
