Dunedin - the most Scottish city south of the equator impressed us with beautiful architecture from another time!
However, Dunedin is also known for New Zealand's most famous beer brand: Speights, as well as the country's largest chocolate manufacturer: Cadbury. While we preferred to invest the money for a tour in the chocolate factory in goods at the factory outlet (🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️), we were initiated into the art of brewing beer in the Speights Brewery tour - of course with a subsequent tasting! 😋 While Steffi enjoyed the non-alcoholic beer cocktails and drank one after the other, Conny enjoyed trying all six taps to her heart's content.. 🍺🍻🍺 The other nationalities present at the tour saw us as the stereotype of beer-drinking Germans and asked us amused questions about our folk festivals in southern Germany.
On Dunedin's harbor, the Otago Peninsula borders, where we made a short detour to Sandfly Bay, because there you can catch a glimpse of sea lions between the dunes! We were lucky! 😍
