Dopo oltre 13 ore in volo, siamo arrivati nel pomeriggio al Kilimanjaro Airport, puntuali per il traffico serale. Da lì siamo partiti con il van per la nostra prima sistemazione. Dopo 1,5 ore su una strada accidentata o come dice l'autista: "massaggio africano", siamo arrivati in hotel.
È stato tutto ok, ma la camera non era chiusa e quindi il rumore della strada principale vicina era ben udibile.
Dopo un lungo viaggio, però, questo non ci interessava.
La mattina dopo, Elena si è già potuta godere i pancake a colazione, altrimenti la colazione era piuttosto spartana.
Ora avevamo 24 ore per esplorare Arusha. Dopo una breve visita alle piantagioni di caffè e un breve giro della città, siamo arrivati a un mercato locale. Meglio dare un'occhiata alle foto…
In generale, lungo le strade principali si trovano in prima fila le case, ristoranti e negozi "belli". Nella seconda fila, con strade non asfaltate, ci siamo sentiti un po' timorosi.
Con oltre 600.000 abitanti e 2 milioni nella grande regione, Arusha, conosciuta anche come "capitale del safari" o "capitale del turismo", è una delle città più grandi della Tanzania.
Ma alla fine siamo comunque felici che il nostro soggiorno ad Arusha sia limitato e che il giorno successivo possiamo partire per il safari.

I hope that the Government has taken notice of your serious concerns and hopefully appropriate action will be taken to improve the transport infrastructure in and around Arusha City for the common good of the residents and visitors alike.
Regarding hospitality industry, the Government should set minimum standards and require all hotel operators to adhere to.
