59. Sithonia -> Sikia Beach

59. Tag: Although it is still cloudy in the morning, it clears up very soon. When we arrive at the tavern 'Panorama', there are hardly any clouds left to be seen. The tavern owes its name to the magnificent view that can be enjoyed from there. It is located just a few meters below the ridge between the west and east side of the island and offers a great view of the coast of Sithonia and the opposite peninsula of Athos. The mountain of the same name, Athos, is over 2000 meters high and is the highest mountain in Chalkidiki, visually dominating the monastic republic.

Our hiking trail follows the ridge from south to north towards Sikia, a small village in the south of Sithonia. We actually always have a view of the west coast and the neighboring peninsula of Kassandra on this side, or the east coast and the mountain of Athos. Very beautiful. Birgit often uses her plant recognition app because of the vegetation. The air is partially filled with the fragrance of the cistus lavender.

In the afternoon, Nuggy finds a pitch at the Melissi campsite in Sikia Beach. We go to the beach, Peter goes for a swim before Birgit cooks for us. Around 21:15 it gets too cold outside and we retreat indoors.
