Now Christmas is almost over again. We are lying on the sofa, full from eating, and have to realize that we will be back in cold Germany in 8 weeks. Here in Australia, Christmas Day is on the 25th of December and the 26th of December is Boxing Day. Christmas is celebrated and eaten with the family here (like in Germany), but the presents here are quite generous. On Boxing Day, you can grab the bargains of the year in the shops.
We celebrated Christmas on the 24th of December in a very typical way, together with Vanessa (travel mate from Bali). In the afternoon, we met at the supermarket and went shopping. Afterwards, we cooked/grilled together. We laughed a lot and ate way too much. The Barramundi (fish) was just sooo delicious. We saved the dessert for another day because we were just too full. Later, we watched a movie.
On the 25th of December, we met for lunch (leftovers from the evening). After that, we rested and ate until we were full. On the 26th of December, we went out to do some shopping. This time, I was luckier than Padi and received presents.
We gave ourselves a typical Australian Christmas present. A 2-hour helicopter flight over Kakadu National Park. The most expensive Christmas present of our lives. We take off on the 28th of December, just the two of us and a pilot, and we are already excited.
This Christmas was completely different from what we are used to. It was very quiet and we didn't have any stress with preparations, etc. And it was also nice to have over 30 degrees. Nevertheless, we are looking forward to celebrating with our loved ones back home in cold Germany next year.
