Since Sarah and Rouven left today, I was a bit alone. I explored the city a bit and walked from there to home so I can orient myself better. Usually, Paul always drove me. It takes about 30 minutes by foot from the city to our house. It is not a problem to walk around alone as a white woman. The city is well-maintained and clean, and you can see many beautiful flowers along the way. Even the public toilets are very clean (cleaner than our train station toilets!). On the way home, I went shopping for ingredients for a cake since Paul's birthday is tomorrow. This was a bit difficult because firstly, the ingredients were labeled differently, secondly, the items were not available, and thirdly, the sellers had no idea because they were only responsible for stocking the shelves. Except for the chopped almonds, I found everything. I then crushed the almonds myself in Africa-Bush-Style with a stone. It was funny that there was a whole shelf full of Lindt chocolate in the supermarket. They really like it here... no wonder :).
