06.03.2023 from Tennant Creek to Daly Waters

Although we can sleep in, we wake up early and the museum doesn't open until 9 o'clock. We take it slow, go to the IGA, one of the other big chains next to Woolworth's, to get yogurt for tomorrow morning.

The museum promises 3 exhibitions and a mine tour. We learned yesterday that the mine is underwater after the heavy rains, so we can only visit the museums. We decide to visit the first museum, the history of the gold rush in the 1930s, which is exciting and well designed with photos and written records. We also take a look at the minerals, but we just walk through the exhibition on World War I. We start the tour at 10 o'clock. Along the way, there's not much to see, except for a few floodways, which don't have as much water as yesterday. We stop in Renner Springs for coffee and find some CDs to exchange. Since we don't have any, we only take 2 CDs. It's the first time in weeks that we have music in the car.

In Elliott, we have lunch. I prepared something there. A heavy rain shower drives us out of the seating area back into the car. We spontaneously decide to stay at Daly Waters Station. The place advertises its old airfield and a quaint roadhouse, and we are not disappointed. The dining room is decorated with bras and underwear, baseball caps, and badges of soldiers. That's exactly what I remember when I think of roadhouses. We jump into the pool and stay for almost an hour.

Today, the onboard kitchen stays cold, we go out to eat.
