On Wednesday, the weather was really nice in Kerikeri, but Anne and I were both still pretty sick, so we made ourselves a pot of lemon-ginger tea and drank it throughout the afternoon.
In the afternoon, I sat on the big lawn for a couple of hours in my bikini and got a bit of a tan - of course, covered in SPF 50 sunscreen, as 'Northland' has the highest skin cancer rate in New Zealand.
In the evening, Anne and I had a pretty deep conversation and talked about all sorts of things, which made me a little sad because the next day I was supposed to head towards Raglan.
On Thursday morning, I packed all my things, and when Fritz finally finished 3 hours later, we said goodbye and set off towards the west coast.
We stayed right by a lake overnight, and the next day we went to Whangarei. We spent the whole day walking around the city, and Fritz bought a Chailatte (he drinks one in every city - according to him, the best one is in Tauranga).
On Saturday, we continued driving, and driving through Auckland feels like driving on the Autobahn from Cologne to Düren on weekday afternoons.
When we made the next fuel stop, we switched places and I drove the rest of the way.
Our hostel here in Raglan is absolutely awesome. There are 3 hammocks, a sauna, and a hot tub. They also have kayaks, surfboards, skateboards, wetsuits, bikes, etc. that you can rent.
We initially booked 2 nights but are considering staying longer, although the weather is unfortunately not going to be very good in the next few days.
Also, there is no WiFi here at the hostel because the owners want people to talk to each other, and they believe that the internet only 'disturbs the vibrations' 😂
