Day 2: Bad Laer-Bremen

Motto: Sightseeing vs. Adventure

Dear sports friends,

we were in round 2 and it was adventurous once again.

The tour started with a particularly difficult question: 169 kilometers bike tour or trust Google Maps and ride 141 km? Since I wanted to arrive in Bremen, the answer was clear. As the elevation increased, so did the rainfall, and I had my breakfast break at the empty train station. I think that wasn't the only emptiness in that village.

After 80 minutes, there were already 500 meters of elevation gain, and after 2 hours, there were 750 meters, which remained until the end.

Just when I thought everything was going smoothly again, Google Maps showed hidden hiking trails. Short statement: Dear Google Maps, if you ride over 20 km on the road and then have to push through bushes and caves for a 20 m shortcut, you can also just continue on the road. Regards.

After this spectacle, the next one followed. 1x25 km and 1x35 km on the B1 without turning. In the spirit of "better to fly than to lie" or "not nice, but helpful", the longest dry spell outside the Sahara began. There was nothing on the left and right, but there were solid paths and a fast ride. The only two highlights were, on the one hand, the procession of oak processionary caterpillars (thanks to Scrabble), which were wrongly announced by the forestry office, as it should have been called "exploitation danger" instead of "allergy danger". The $99 also seemed a bit too much. Unfortunately, there are no pictures (data protection and all that). Well, with an empty wallet and a lot of nothing, the next horror came. Bats. At least 8 of them without warning. Maybe they mistook my shirt for blood. Just kidding. Unfortunately, it wasn't that exciting, but still annoying, because when drying my clothes, my shirt got tangled in the brake disc and I had to pull it out with great effort.

With the stress behind me, the tour ended with a few nice pictures towards Bremen and a delicious pancake on the ship. Due to the rain, the sightseeing tour will continue tomorrow with more pictures. Stay fit and beware of bats.

Now I just have to decide on a bed, as I got a family room for space reasons. Heavy burden!

Greetings Florian
