Hey everybody! I just came back from an absolutely interesting travel to Washington DC.
The „DC“ (District of Columbia) was named after Christopher Columbus, who discovered America in 1492. The city was planned by Pierre L’Enfant, who was assigned by George Washington.
The White House
The White House is the office of the current President Donald Trump.
United States Capitol
You can see it from miles away. Once you get there, it is just GIGANTIC!
Columbus Memorial Fountain
Christopher Columbus discovered America in 1492. The Memorial Fountain was built in 1912 in front of the Union Station. Over the Memorial you can see three flags: They symbolize the three ships, with them he arrived: Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria.
Washington Monument
George Washington was the 1st President of the United States of America.
The Monument is surrounded by 50 flags, they stand for the 50 states.
Lincoln Monument
The view from that Monument to the Washington Monument is indescribable! I sat there for about one hour! Amazing! Abraham Lincoln was the 16th President of the United States of America (1861 until 1865). He was shot in a theatre and died one day later.
Arlington Cemetery (Virginia)
This cemetery is the 2nd biggest in the USA.
John F. Kennedy is buried here.
Very
special was to see the change of a guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Hope y'all doing fine in Germany ;)
