The second day was more of a travel day, from Hermsdorf to Alsfeld, visiting old friends. A little bit of this, that, and pineapple, and then we headed to Gießen for the evening. Finn went for a bike ride, watched some women's soccer live, picked up a ball at the tennis court, and then back to the WoMi. A little mishap in the rear garage had to be taken care of, as somehow the window cleaning gear had sprung a leak 😒
After a calm, cool night, we continued towards Cologne after a short walk, during which Marley tried to catch some rabbits. Unfortunately, the P+R parking lot wasn't an option, as the clearance height was only 2m, apparently not advertised on the internet 🤷🏻♂️.
So we parked nearby and took the train towards the city center. First, we passed by the RTL headquarters and arrived at the Rheinpark. Of course, we had to use the small train that goes around the entire park. After an expensive and mediocre lunch at the park café, we had some fun at the big playground. Then we walked along the Rhine to the Hohenzollern Bridge, also known as the Love Lock Bridge. We took a walk around the cathedral and returned to the promenade, where we had a delicious bubble waffle with ice cream and strawberries, highly recommended!
We then walked a little bit to the Alten Markt and took the S-Bahn to Cologne West, where we found another huge park with all kinds of playgrounds.
The "Grilling and open fire forbidden" signs are still generously ignored here, and people use all kinds of grills, including a large gas grill for a group of about 20 people 🤔
Finn fell asleep a bit in the bike trailer, and we relaxed in Konny's garden with cold drinks and chill music. We had dinner on Aachener Street at the Beef Brothers, also very good!
The S-Bahn took us, along with many others, out of the city to our WoMi, where we ended the day in a "quiet" residential street.
