Upon arrival in Vancouver, our first task was to pick up our rental car, which we had already booked through Alamo from Germany. We were given a stylish Hyundai sedan. We had concerns that our luggage might not fit in the car, but those worries turned out to be unfounded - the trunk was huge! So, we were already satisfied with the car.
We plunged directly into the hustle and bustle of Vancouver and first looked for our accommodation, which we had quickly booked on Airbnb the day before, as our first accommodation had been canceled. Thanks to the navigation system, we found the address quite well, but now we had to find the corresponding house in the residential complex. After a few attempts, we managed to find it. We had booked a room in a private household and were greeted by our hostess and her daughter, who showed us our small but clean room. We also had our own bathroom. Admittedly, it was a bit strange to live in someone else's house. However, hotel rooms in Vancouver are practically unaffordable. Besides, we were only there to sleep anyway.
We didn't do much on this day. We arrived at the accommodation around 2 p.m., did a little bit of shopping, and realized how expensive it is to shop here. After that, we took a little walk in the immediate vicinity, but there wasn't much to see. Pretty exhausted and totally jet-lagged, we went to bed quite early. We had planned to stay up a bit longer, but by 7 p.m., we couldn't keep our eyes open and fell into a deep sleep.
