We had a very short and cold stay in Bogotà and made a good choice with our hotel near the airport. First, we were impressed by the size of the airport - very modern and clean. We took a taxi and went to the hotel. Since we will be back in Bogotà before returning, we didn't do much and slept extensively in the comfortable hotel bed. It was really colder here and Dani is already outside.
We were looking forward to our flight to Rio the next day. Well, we can't believe it ourselves, but we are here at very high temperatures, which we noticed when landing at 6:30 am.
After a 50-minute drive along the Favelas, which reminded us of Comuna 13, we arrived at Fred's, Dani's colleague from South African times, and his family. We were warmly welcomed and had the opportunity to drop off our things and take a shower, which didn't help much. So we went to the beach to have breakfast and Fred showed us around with his 3 apartments, which we can rent at a good price. So we are now living in Barra da Tijuca, right on the beach and in a safe area.
We can slowly relax and enjoy. We drive to a smaller beach called 'Prainha', which we reach through a long road and is also a bit secluded. A beautiful view awaits us and we take the first plunge into the water, which feels more than good in this warmth (yes, spoiled at a high level). Later, we continue along this road, similar to Pablo's prison, and come to a restaurant that is completely isolated and offers a fantastic view. Live music is playing and the smell of food is in the air. Even if our swimming trunks are still wet, it is cozy and we eat a very good soup with shrimp, rice, and other ingredients.
The tiredness quickly arrives because the night flight was not very restful. Rest for a while at home and in the evening we meet up with Fred's family and friends. We enjoy freshly prepared burgers in a cozy restaurant. Somehow it's almost more of a bar.
Exciting days await us here!
