Wednesday, 29.01., Dunedin City Tour

Pubblicato: 01.02.2020

We watch surfers again during breakfast. :-)

Today is city sightseeing day. We park in the parking garage and on the way to the street, we admire the great murals. Dunedin is known for its sometimes very large wall paintings.

In the info point, we can admire a model of the newly planned harbor district, quite impressive! Then we get a plan for a city walk with architectural highlights and set off. First to St. Paul's and then up the hill. There are always streets that look very English, but also streets like in American suburbs. We accidentally touch the Chinese garden. (We already have enough Chinese around us) and then we come to the very worth seeing train station from 1920. At that time, Dunedin was the commercial center of New Zealand. The buildings from that time also show the former commercial wealth.

Now we have a coffee in the modern Otago Settlers Museum and then a very worthwhile visit there.

Last activity today: visit to the steepest street in the world. That's true - see photos. Only then does it start to rain and we drive back to the hotel! Then a real storm starts. No more surfers - probably the waves are too strong for them!

After the rain, we take a short walk and especially I have to take many photos of waves, spray and surf.
