Shakespeare's London & Romeo and Juliet

Pubblicato: 29.05.2017

What a romantic day! Not quite in the way you might think ;) Today, Miri and I treated ourselves to a day in London after the exam the day before yesterday. It's always nice, but this time it was extra special! Because: we had tickets for the afternoon performance of Romeo & Juliet at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre right on the Thames. Somehow, I had imagined the play to be done in a traditional way. After all, we were here in Shakespeare's original theater! But: anyone who expected old costumes and acting like in old movies was proven wrong from second one! It was colorful, loud, flashy, controversial, and modern - even if they stuck to the ancient, original version in terms of storyline and language, which I had read in English. As for the rest of the day: before that, we were in Regent's Park, where at least one of Queen Mary's roses was already blooming. After that, we went shopping at Westfield, where they have the best pretzels ever. You eat them with cinnamon and sugar... just like in New York! I will miss these pretzels so much... :D

To put it in a nutshell: Super day! :)
Yours,
Leonie
