Contrary to our original plan from the last post, we set off for Lake Garda on Saturday the 20th of May. On the way to the campsite in Sirmione, we stopped by a Lidl supermarket to stock up the motorhome with groceries. Unfortunately, we couldn't pay by card at this really huge Lidl, so Bine filled up the shopping cart with Per while Jelto drove through Peschiera in the motorhome to find an ATM.
At the campsite, we were able to use our Acsi Card for the first time and got a great spot right by the lake at a reduced fee. We then made a delicious meal and took a walk by the lake. In the evening, Bine and Jelto sat in front of the motorhome alone for the first time and ended the day with a cold drink.
On Sunday, we set off on our bikes right after breakfast. There is a very nice bike path right by a beautiful river. Here we had a little picnic and dipped our feet in the river. In the afternoon, we just hung out in front of the motorhome. The evening was a bit challenging as Per's second front tooth came out. Luckily, we had nice neighbors at the campsite who understood the 3-hour drama.
On the morning of the 22nd of May, we went for a hike to the old Roman fortress on the Sirmione peninsula. We miscalculated the time a bit, so we took the bus back to be back at the motorhome in time for lunch. After that, we all jumped into the pool together because it's just so darn hot here.
Per was like a different child today. He fell asleep without any fuss. The tooth must have really bothered him. Also, today there was a little first.
Per drank out of a cup all by himself, which he took and held on his own. We are very proud!
The three days here at Lake Garda were very nice. Tomorrow we will continue towards Venice via Verona.
