Beach and BBQ were the two defining B's of the day today. Since both represent the USA and especially the West Coast, we tested both today.
After getting at least 08:00 hours of sleep today, we started on the scenic drive towards Balboa Park. There it turned out that not only Maxi didn't feel like sightseeing today, but also Verena's camera, which gave up after 2 pictures.
To get Maxi a bit excited, we drove to the beach to a small amusement park. Here stands the Giant Dip - a very famous and also very old wooden roller coaster. Surprisingly, it was quite cheap and we both had a lot of fun. In our after movie, there will be a small excerpt of it 🎢
Afterwards, we went to Silver Strand, a state beach on the Coronado Peninsula.
On our last day on the coast, we wanted to jump into the waves of the Pacific Ocean again 😁
The Pacific seems to be characterized by high waves and cold temperatures. Unfortunately, our hope that the water temperature in the southern USA would rise a bit was disappointed. It was also below 20 degrees here.
Nevertheless, we had to seize the opportunity and surrender to our fate. Some excerpts from this adventure will also be shown in our after movie.
After a little confrontation with about 20 above average sized and hungry seagull-like birds, we were able to reclaim our belongings and start the journey home.
Before going out to eat, we visited the port of San Diego. Here we were able to admire the huge aircraft carrier 'Midway'.
Now, on to the second B: BBQ.
Since Verena had never eaten spare ribs before and Maxi loves everything related to barbecue, we went to the best BBQ restaurant in town. Conveniently, it was right across the street.
The food was really amazing and deserves the many awards it has received! 😍
Tomorrow we will start very early towards the desert. The next stop is Palm Springs and is probably best known to the younger ones. Once a year - namely during Spring Break - hell breaks loose here 🙂🙃
Good night to Germany 😊
