For once, the weather forecast was correct and we were awakened by pouring rain today.
Well... since there is an outlet center right across from our B&B, you can probably guess what we did then... 😉
After the shopping tour, our luck with the weather returned, although it was still gray, at least it had stopped raining, so we were able to finally realize our original plan to visit Killarney National Park.
First, we drove to Lady's View, from where we had a fantastic view of the park. On the roads, you can clearly tell that you are in a tourist area - much more traffic and all designated parking lots are crowded. Not to mention the crowds of people...
Afterward, we followed a very short hike (from 200 m per way it became about 500 m, as we had to look for an alternative parking lot) to the Torc Waterfall, which was a bit larger than expected.
Lastly, we went to the center of the park. In a beautiful complex, we visited Mucross Abbey - a very well-preserved 14th-century abbey.
Like the day before, we spent the evening at the Italian restaurant in the overcrowded city, as we simply did not have any appetite for greasy, fried Irish food and there were not really any other alternatives.
