When we went to bed, we don't know, but the night was definitely too short, the alarm clock rings at 7.00 a.m. and Tiger, Giraffe and the two Stone Age ladies crawl out of the tents. Still drunk, we set off for Etosha National Park, today we go on safari! After looking like animals yesterday and behaving like animals, today we go on safari. We are in Africa, we want to see the Big 5. Getting up is even more difficult today than on the other days. After a much-needed, unfortunately cold shower, we go to the Ethosha National Park with alcohol still in our blood. Already on the way to the park, we come across one or the other animal. The permit for the park is quickly obtained, but there are no more campsites in the park, so we have to have seen everything by 6.00 p.m. So let's go quickly. As everyone is talking at once again, we drive the wrong way and head towards Ethosha Airport. The mistake is quickly noticed and we turn around. Giraffes can be seen in the distance, so it wasn't all in vain. After taking a closer look at the map of the park, we drive to the Salt Pan. A huge lake, actually, unfortunately it is dry season and here you can find nothing but sand and a dried salt layer. No water = no animals. We need a water hole. And we are not disappointed here either. Impalas, Springboks, Ostriches and Zebras are just at the water hole and are not bothered in the slightest by the tourists. And even an Oryx has lost its way here. The second water hole also offers a variety of animals, but again exactly the same ones. Zebras, Impalas and Co are here like sheep in Scotland. We want to see the Top 5 and unfortunately there is only a dead giraffe here, that doesn't count. So let's continue, we still have a long way to go. And indeed, there is a giraffe in the bush. Perfect camera shot, but unfortunately the battery is empty right now and the extra batteries don't fit. In the middle of the national park and no camera, what a shame!
Camera to the charger and off we go. Once again cars are standing in the middle of the road, what's going on? Unfortunately we are too late and only see the herd of elephants from behind. Both not so bad, we still see a few giraffes on that day and three elephants chilling at the water hole. However, the highlight is the hyena we encounter just before the exit. It just relaxes and looks at us sleepily when we stop to take photos.
Completely satisfied and tired, we return to our very comfortable safari camp and cook a three-course menu. We have crackers with cheese as an appetizer, instant noodles as the main course, and Toblerone chocolate for dessert.
