15.11.2019 from Dunedin to Fjordland National Park

Pubblicato: 21.11.2019

We went from Dunedin to the Aparima Bridge Reserve campground, where we only slept. The sandflies and mosquitoes made it impossible for us to sit outside in the evenings. Sandflies are terrible creatures that bite and are as small as a pinhead. Their bites itch worse than mosquito bites. We have a spray against all kinds of insects, which we can use to spray ourselves, but to be honest, we were a bit lazy that day.

The second stop before Fjordland National Park was the campground at Monowai Lake. Did I mention that it hasn't stopped raining since we left Dunedin? No? Well, unfortunately, that's the case. But that's camping for you.

The Monowai Lake is really beautiful to stay a few more days if the weather is good. We took a little walk through the forest there. Elaine said that Fjordland National Park has something mystical about it, and we can definitely confirm that.
