Tag 48: Porongurup National Park - Albany

Pubblicato: 29.10.2018

In the morning, it is cloudy, but the cloud cover breaks up and the sun comes out. Perfect conditions for our hiking day. We have a hearty breakfast with scrambled eggs and everything that goes with it. Then we drive to the Castle Rock car park.

It takes some time until we are all ready to march. We don't start until after 11 a.m. The trail is manageable with children. The route leads through the forest. It is not very steep and there are only a few high steps to cope with. The majority of the route is a sandy path. The children walk about half of the ascent (about 250 meters in altitude, 4.5 kilometers round trip), then they want to be carried. They are quite tired and they all fall asleep. They are awake again at the summit. They push stones and Samuel even dares to go on the viewing platform. We have a snack and explore the spherical landscape. Then we go back to the car park (we arrive there around 4 p.m.). The two older ones walk the entire descent. They have become really great hiking and climbing kids. We can highly recommend this hike. In general, we really liked the Pongurup National Park. It's definitely worth a detour!

Our destination for today is Albany. We book ourselves into the Middleton Beach Big4 campground (so far our most expensive campground). Despite the refreshing temperatures, the children want to go in the pool (luckily heated). Michi and I think it's too cold, but Samuel and Maxima have fun. We take advantage of the fact that there is a family bath today with a huge bathtub. For dinner today we have steak and wedges.
