Today we have to say goodbye to Lucky Bay. We drive to the beach once again in the hope of spotting a kangaroo there. Unfortunately, there is none. However, we do find a stuck car. Yes, sandy ground should not be underestimated. We still remember that from our trips to Africa. Looks like we have to dig.
On the way to Esperance, we make a stop at Thistle Cove. We climb around a bit and spot some lizards. On the further drive, we see kangaroos and emus again.
In Esperance, we refill our gas bottle (9l for 26 AUD) and check-in at the Seafront Caravan Park. I do laundry and we refill our water tank. Today, the kids take the opportunity to shower in the camper. They have a great time. For lunch, we eat chicken with rice and the kids play on the playground. We have a front-row spot with a sea view.
In the late afternoon, we go on another tour. We drive to the Visitor Center and get some information for our next destinations. Then we drive the Great Ocean Drive - a 40 km round trip to the beaches of Esperance. We start at Pink Lake (unfortunately, it's no longer pink) and make our way back to the center. At the first beaches of the tour, we still have great light, but then more and more clouds appear. Nevertheless, we experience a great sunset at Fourth Beach.
We don't feel like cooking tonight, so we go to McDonald's. That's something we've never done while traveling: a tick got attached to my shin. No idea where I picked that up.
