We definitely went to bed too late yesterday. The kids, and therefore we, only wake up at 9:15 am. There's not much time left until check-out at 10 am. We quickly pack up and drive to the car park at the campsite. We have a small breakfast and Michi takes the kids to the pillow to jump. I take care of the ferry for our trip to Kangaroo Island. Somehow, I always end up with the wrong employees in the call centers. The booking through THL's sales team takes forever. But after 45 minutes, it's done and we have our booking for tomorrow morning (outbound) and Monday evening (return) in our pocket, or rather in our inbox. The fun is not cheap (511 AUD for round trip), but due to the many recommendations for Kangaroo Island, we really want to go there.
We set off for Adelaide around 12 pm. The drive through the Clare Valley wine region is very beautiful and diverse. The small, old, lovingly maintained cottages with gardens remind us of our journey through southern England.
In Adelaide, we go to THL and exchange our towels and bed linen. Afterwards, we have lunch at the Noodlebox and restock our supplies at Coles and Liquorland. Our Maui is thirsty again and needs a tank refill.
It's already after 6 pm when we head towards Cape Jervis. Our ferry leaves there at 10 am tomorrow. The drive from Adelaide to Cape Jervis is beautiful. The green, gentle hilly landscape looks beautiful in the evening light. Cows, sheep, and kangaroos share the lush pastureland. We witness a stunning sunset.
We arrive at the Caravan Park shortly after 8 pm. Luckily, someone is still at the reception. We have a small meal and put the kids to bed. It's hard to believe, but we turned on the heating today and dug out the warm winter sleeping bags for the kids. Last night was quite cold and we all froze a bit.
