9th Stage: Steep ascents and descents that are worth it

Pubblicato: 06.10.2024

Today I start the day with yoga and a cozy breakfast on the hostel terrace. By half past nine, I set off, stretched and energized. The weather for hiking is perfect: not too warm and a pleasant, light breeze is blowing.

Through heathland, I head towards the coast, where I first walk along the top and then for a bit on the beach - the soft sand is a bit more comfortable for my feet. After that, it's back up to the cliffs, down to a small beach, and back up again. At a small, impressive cove, the path descends quite steeply and then rises again on the other side. Almost at the top is the perfect spot for a lunch break, where I eat the rest of my pasta from last night.

Now I move away from the coast. A gravel path runs alongside heath, shrubland, and forest. I fend off the growing boredom by making phone calls. 😊 At the end, I have to walk about 2 km along the road, then I arrive in Vila do Bispo. This is the actual stage destination. However, since I couldn't find any suitable accommodation here, I take the bus to Sagres. There I have booked an enticing offer for 3 nights, meals included, and a day of SURFING 😃. Since today's distance was only about 15 kilometers and I arrive relatively early, I still stroll to the beach, where I dip briefly into the cold water and then have dinner.
