Today we have already had our first day of golf in Spain. After all, we need to get acclimated and get to know the course since we have signed up for a tournament week next week.
We played Golf D’Aro, which circles around our resort, so to speak our home course. This golf course is a well-known one on the Costa Brava. It is located in the Platja d’Aro region, in the hills above the coast, about 30 kilometers southeast of Girona.
According to the description, Golf D’Aro offers the most outstanding view of all golf courses on the Costa Brava. I can certainly confirm that. The location, over 300 meters above sea level, provides a wonderful view of the Mediterranean Sea and the mountains of the Gavarres massif nature reserve. Unique!
The golf course opened in 1990 and is a par-72 layout. Due to the hilly topography and narrow fairways, some holes are particularly challenging, with significant elevation changes, numerous trees, two lakes, and steep slopes requiring precise play. The layout is known as a ball-eater; I can also confirm this, as some of our balls ended up in the abyss.
The weather was pleasantly warm again, and I hope it continues like this.
