Real men's sport

Pubblicato: 10.11.2018

Oh the night was wonderful. The bed was a dream. Unfortunately, the breakfast time is so inconvenient that you can't even sleep in. 7:30 to 8:30 am. I know it's a great time for many of you, but for me it's at least 2 hours too early. But now it is what it is, I will manage the 2 nights/breakfasts as well.

The sun is shining from the sky and Carsten really wants to go "hiking". I would rather stroll in Queenstown than climb any mountains.

So that's what we'll do, strolling, after a nap for digestion on my part and Carsten's SIM card research. However, we didn't get very far because there is a national rugby tournament in Queenstown today. We wanted to check it out anyway. So we quickly sat down on the lawn. What a scenery.

It was really exciting, although I haven't understood the rules yet, but the game can get pretty intense at times.

Definitely a real men's sport.

At some point, we made it to the "city". Now we need to get mobile, because without a mobile network, you're only half a person.

However, it's difficult with a winter jacket, they have all switched to summer clothes here. So the only option for me is to stay at home when it gets cold.

Some people here dress really stylishly, with a thick down jacket on top and then wearing shorts and flip-flops.

With a pint of our favorite drink

we met Kristin and Jed. He's a Kiwi and she's South African. She speaks English really well, he mumbles English. Now we have our first invitation to visit them. Let's see if we can fit that in.

According to Jed, Queenstown is not New Zealand. It reminds me more of a tourist destination in the Alps. Carsten says it's like Whistler in Canada.

Queenstown, the Mecca for extreme sports enthusiasts and adventurers. The main source of income is tourism. In winter, it's a ski resort, and in summer, apart from hiking and mountain biking, it's a Mecca for paragliding, hang gliding, bungee jumping, kayaking, and speedboat riding. The right place for people in midlife crisis.
