To give a sign of life again. I'm doing great! 😋... Anna and I have arrived at our accommodation in Port Barton. The bus ride was a bit bumpy, but that's what you expect here.
From the "center" of Port Barton (which is actually just a small village), we took a boat to the beach of the accommodation in 20 minutes, and it lived up to its promise👍 Plenty of sun, great view, beach right outside the door, clear water, and only 5 "huts", so everything is quite relaxed.
To make the nature feeling even more complete, there is only cold water and electricity for 3 hours in the morning and 3 hours in the evening 😂... but even as a spoiled brat, I can still handle it 😉 The Wi-Fi also usually doesn't work as it should... that hits me hard 😬 I still don't quite understand the purpose of my Philippine SIM card - calls don't work and mobile internet only works sporadically despite the best 3G reception 🙈
But in our accommodation, there are stand-up paddling gear, kayaks, and bicycles for free, and otherwise enough loungers to relax - so you can also occupy yourself and unwind in an old-school way! 💤 The food is also decent! All the ingredients are brought by boat or grown right outside the door (actually only coconuts) and cooked fresh👌
We have already made it to a nearby waterfall by kayak and to island hopping by boat tour. It's all awesome, but here you rely on the boat tours... there's not much you can do on your own. It was awesome, and snorkeling in the reef, with big turtles and a few starfish lined up in the water for the tourists, was included - that's basically the program of the island hopping tour that everyone offers here. It was also not too crowded with tourists...
Today we managed to get to "center" of Port Barton to find decent Wi-Fi (so far without success 🙈) and to eat something different (we had falafel 🥙)
Tomorrow we will continue to El Nido in the north of Palawan by van (4 hours drive)... I hope for food and Wi-Fi, the rest can be similar.
The typhoon that hit Vietnam and the Philippines did not affect us. So far, everything is still picture-perfect... and I hope it stays that way! ✌️
