Turtles saved...

Pubblicato: 02.01.2017

... would have liked to, but only visited one station, where others do it (fortunately).

On the one hand, injured turtles come here and are cared for and released into the wild if possible.

The ones that have really severe damage to their shell and/or fins - we spare you the pictures, really sad - apparently stay there. We can't judge how beautiful that is, what we saw was quite small, especially the tanks. You wish for the beautiful animals to go to good zoos, where they would have more space...

Secondly, the station buys eggs at markets that would otherwise be eaten and breeds the turtles to a larger size so that they can be released into the sea with less risk.

For this, they need donations. These are acquired, for example, by tourists visiting (free of charge, with the mention of the donation box) or by buying and releasing a turtle... All under supervision, so you can't take them home....

Unfortunately, there was no suitable lizard for Tine :-(

We did it all again with the scooter (Iris is happy :-) ... including the highway. They actually have a separate scooter lane that goes over the sea (remember our trip to Florida).

Then there was a short stop at something that turned out to be the equivalent of a metro for us... Lots of funny and quirky food like peanuts in a garlic coating and 'Frozz' (small gelatin cubes with fruit flavor).

Short intermezzo in the hotel pool and then we continued culinary-wise. We were drawn to the night market. Eat our way through and try out a lot of new things. Very often, you come across tempeh (made from soy)... And a lot of things are fried. Yummy!
