In the last 6 weeks we explored big parts of Australia's east coast. starting from Sydney heading up to Airlie beach, where the boats leave to the famous Whitsunday islands. The first week we had to stay in Syndey with two nice friendly families because we had to wait till Rosy arrived. Getting here in was no big deal at all. We have heard so many horror stories about Australias quarantine inspection, so we cleaned Rosy a lot in Malaysia. Our inspector was a really nice guy and after a few looks he told us that Rosy passed quarantine and he had never seen such a clean car coming with a ship. One day after Rosy arrived we went to a horse race to watch the world's best horse WINX, and of course he won again. Then we started heading up north, where we visited a friend of Bernhards hometown in Newcastle. Then we moved on to all the famous spots like Port Macquarie, Coffs Harbour, Byron Bay, the Gold Coast with Surfers Paradies, the Sunshine Coast, Bundaberg and to Agnes Water. There we stayed at a kangaroo sanctuary for 5 days, helping the owners for free accomodation. There we met the dutch couple Esmee and Mat and after that we travelled together with them till we reached Airlie beach. On our way we stopped in Rockhampton, Yeppon where we did whale watching, and in Mackay, where we stayed at the Platypus bushcamp for 3 days to see some of the rare Platypus. Then we drove to Airlie beach, to make a 3 days trip to the Whitsunday islands on a sailing boat. It is known as the second most beautiful beach in the world and after some month in Asia and many different beaches we really can say: yes it is! After that and enjoying the warm temperatures there we started heading back to the south.
