For today, I didn't have anything planned in advance. In the morning, I got breakfast from the bakery nearby and had breakfast again at the promenade.
After that, I sat in the room for a few hours and wrote, while also chatting with the girl from Germany.
In the evening, we had the idea to visit the Hallgrimskirkja, the church in Reykjavik. It looks quite plain from the inside, but it's huge. After that, we just started walking and talking, and kept walking. First to the promenade and then further to a small beach with stones. In the end, we were about 40 minutes away from the hostel.
Overall, the day was very relaxed and I'm glad to have found someone I get along with really well. The nights so far have been exhausting. At least one of us snores all night and it never gets completely dark. Also, I don't have a proper bedside table and since I sleep in a bunk bed on top, I keep my phone with the alarm next to me in bed and I'm constantly worried that I'm lying on my phone or won't hear the alarm.
Even though all of this scares me a little - knowing that I'm living with a completely strange family for a year - I'm still glad to be here. It's nice to experience things that have nothing to do with school and finally live and experience things at my own pace. Even though I really miss my friends and family, looking back, it was the only right decision.
See you later,
Julia
