Now it was time to head to the snowy mountains. We hoped that they would still be snowy after the warm weather of the past few days. We drove for about two hours from Denver into the Rocky Mountains. We were in Keystone at an elevation of 2,800 meters and there was snow. Not too much, but enough for some slopes to be open. The town has hotels, vacation rentals, restaurants, and a few shops. We booked a studio for 4 nights. With a view of the mountains, a fireplace, and a bathtub, we could really enjoy our time here. We cooked every evening in the well-equipped kitchen.
On the first day, we went straight to the ski rental and hit the slopes the next morning. Ben was skiing like a pro and raced down the mountain as if he did it every day. After some near misses, broken bones, and a long time without snow, I, on the other hand, was quite wobbly on my snowboard. We spent two days on the slopes and then it was time for some rest on the third day. It was much needed because my legs were sore from a bad muscle strain.
And then it was time to continue our journey through the country. We left Colorado and crossed half of Kansas until we arrived in Oklahoma City in the state of Oklahoma after 12 hours.
