Landing in Dubai, the flight was quite pleasant and we were even able to sleep a little bit. The A380 is really a huge machine...
We have to wait in line at the airport for a really long time and when we finally have our luggage, we go straight to the exit to the taxis. It's already incredibly hot at 6 o'clock in the morning. Over 30 degrees and it's supposed to get to 40 - 50 throughout the day. But the heat here is dry, so it really doesn't matter.
When we get to the taxi stands, there are two taxi queues. One queue is for green taxis with red roofs, the other is for green taxis with pink roofs.
We are called directly to the pink taxis and we quickly find out why. The pink taxis are for women and are also driven by women, in pink work clothes.
The woman takes us to the hotel at high speed. The drive through the city is impressive and it is incredibly fascinating how many great skyscrapers are here.
When we arrive at the hotel, Mika is totally excited about the service. Our suitcases are taken over, we are immediately given something to drink and a hot towel for our hands and face. The hotel is very chic...
Our room has a great view and the bathroom is separated from the bedroom by a glass pane. Looks great.
We are allowed to help ourselves at the rich breakfast buffet and then go to sleep for a few hours. We wake up around 2 p.m. and immediately get hungry again. There is a bistro in the hotel - very German made, but really nice. We eat there and then change for the pool, which is on the roof of the hotel with a great view into the distance of the skyline.
Mika talks to other people who have an Eintracht towel there... and I am very interested in observing 4 veiled women who appear with a total of 12-14 children and ONE man. The man is allowed in the water, the children are too (with a wetsuit and swimming cap and goggles), the veiled women sit around and watch.
We shower, go to dinner and enjoy the view of the illuminated skyline before going to bed. Chants from the mosque can be heard from somewhere.
It already impresses us and we are happy that we made this short layover.
