Sunday, October 31, 2021 - Day 7
Prior to this, we had already seen the information on the internet and also in all the metros that every Sunday until 12:00 the entire Line 4 is out of service. So we start our journey home on our departure day Sunday with Line 12, which also departs right around the corner. At Concorde, we change to Line 1 to Châtelet Les Halles, where we board the RER B train to the airport.
But when the train doesn't turn towards CDG, but continues straight ahead, I start to feel hot: Have we boarded the wrong train? No, RER B is correct. Should we order a taxi to the final stop and then rush over to CDG?
Then we see an information poster in the train: The entire branch to CDG airport is out of service this weekend. Ok, at least we did everything possible, but we are definitely going to be late! No, not rebooking again, like back in London when we were late.
Thank goodness, there is a shuttle bus from the station to the airport and it's leaving right away and fast. Phew, lucky.
But when things start to go wrong, they go wrong. The bus only goes to one end of the airport to some terminal and our departure terminal is Terminal 2B - at the other end of the not-so-small airport. And then something else happens: The handlebar of my trolley is stuck and not extendable, and I can't pull the suitcase, except in such a strongly stooped twisted posture that I give up right away. So, carrying the suitcase, bingo! And that's in a hurry, let's go! Because the departure is at 10:00.
We make it to the boarding gate on time, but don't ask how much I sweated. It's only on the plane that the heartbeat and temperature calmed down to a bearable level.
The flight CDG-VIE goes smoothly and we head home with Tim to our loved ones.
End of the city flight trilogy.
