My last weekend was once again very eventful.
On Saturday, I visited the well-known food market and spent the afternoon at the waterfront. Afterwards, the whole group, from young to old, went to a bar and then to clubs on Long Street.
On Sunday, I had mixed feelings about packing. I didn't want to end my Cape Town adventure, but I was also excited about the upcoming journey. Since it was the last evening for some, we enjoyed a final meal together at a steakhouse. For a post-dinner walk, we headed to Lion's Head, another one of Cape Town's mountains, which we wanted to reach in time for the sunset. The supposedly easy hike turned out to be a challenge for some. "Mountain climbing" or "climbing" would be a better description for the "hike".
However, the sweating and effort were worth it! The view from Lion's Head couldn't have been more impressive on my last evening. To make it back down safely and not have to climb down in the dark, we left the mountain a bit before sunset and admired it from a slightly lower point.
The next morning, I had to say goodbye to the wonderful people and Cape Town with a heavy heart and some tears.
I will never forget this month. I have learned and experienced so much. Many children and volunteers have a special place in my heart.
It was wonderful, thank you African Impact!
