After a comfortable ride through desert and steppe, we arrived at the small coastal town of Paracas. It was wonderful to see the sea again after the long journey. We particularly liked our hostel here because we had the room on the top floor with a view of the sea. There wasn't much to see here, but summer, sun, and beach are always good. Simon was ecstatic when we booked our quad tour. We started in the national park, off-road through the steppe and over the sand - what fun. We had frequent stops and great views of the cliffs and the Pacific. Flamingos and pelicans could also be seen in the distance.
Our bike tour the next day was a bit more challenging due to the heat, extreme wind, and shoddy bikes, but we managed to do a small tour anyway. We made a little detour to Pisco for some shopping. Other than that, we spent the days chilling in the sun and had interesting conversations with people from our hostel, always great to share travel experiences and stories with others.
Then our round trip came full circle and we returned to Lima where it all began. It's incredible how quickly time flew by. We savored the memories of our trip across Peru over a last typical Peruvian meal and the last Pisco Sour in a sky bar. A country with incredible diversity, beautiful nature, hospitable people, and an interesting culture. With so much potential, tourism here is sure to increase. However, we hope that the traditions, the honest and friendly nature of the Peruvians, and the breathtaking flora and fauna will not suffer.
Let's see what Santiago de Chile has in store for us, even though we will only spend two days here. Now it's time to say goodbye to Peru - thank you for letting us experience you!
