Bejing and Shanghai

Pubblicato: 09.09.2018

Hello,
the last week was very nice, I finally met Janina in Beijing last Saturday and then we explored Beijing😊 Unfortunately, we were initially a bit unlucky... Janina's backpack didn't arrive (it arrived 2 days later), the entire Olympic Stadium and the park were closed when we were there, the restaurant we wanted to try was under renovation,... But after a long adventurous search, we found our hostel Sunday evening in the middle of nowhere near the Great Wall, and things started to get better, although we couldn't watch the sunrise because the park near the Great Wall was still closed... So we went back to bed, which was also a good alternative 😊. During the day, we walked on the Great Wall, and we were at a section that was hardly visited by tourists. That was wonderful😊 and we also had great weather, it was unusually not very hot but rather pleasant. It has cooled down here anyway, the temperatures are now really pleasant compared to the last 2 months. We often had the Great Wall to ourselves, which is not the case at the usual tourist sections of the wall. We took some really great pictures, and the landscape was also very beautiful and impressive. Only the partly unsightly cities under construction in the valley occasionally bothered us.
On Tuesday, we returned to Suzhou, unfortunately I still had to work for 3 more days but it went by quickly. Janina explored Suzhou during that time.
On Friday, we continued to Shanghai, finally a real vacation 😊. I think we went to the Bund 4 times at different times, that's the place where you see the skyline. We visited a few gardens/parks and ate street food in the old town. This time I somehow liked Shanghai much better than last time but it still has too many people 😂 at the towers, we split up, Janina went up the Shanghai Tower, which I had already been to the top of, and I went up the Bottle Opener (officially the World Finance Center or something). We watched the sunrise from up there and then saw the city at night, it was impressive 😊
Today, we had a rather calm day in Shanghai, and now we are on the train for over 20 hours to our destination Zhangjiajie in the middle of China. I'm really excited to see what it's like there 😊

Best regards, Lena 😊
