Today we woke up early to dive in a shark cage with the Shark Experience in Bluff, Southland. We took a boat out for about an hour and anchored between Motonui and Stewart Island. Wetsuits were issued and shortly afterwards a great white shark appeared. We were lucky, even though we only had one shark during the time, it stayed with the boat for a good 2 hours and we were able to watch it very well from the cage. We will also get underwater pictures of the shark later, since the weather was rainy my own pictures didn't turn out that well.
The shark was known to the people, a bull that had been recorded by them repeatedly for two years. The company is the only one in New Zealand that still registers sharks and reports sightings. They work closely with the nature conservation authorities. I recommend everyone to book a tour with them, you can also come along as an observer.

At the end of the excursion, sandwiches and snacks were distributed. After docking we drove straight back to Queenstown.
