New Zealand - South Island (2)

Pubblicato: 21.03.2019

(Queensland, Te Anau/Milford Sound)

To stay flexible, we exchanged mountains for hiking for mountains for flying... We drove to Queenstown. The city is known for its crazy, colorful New Zealand, where you can do anything. From rafting to bungee jumping to skydiving and colorful nightlife, everything is possible.

First, we looked at the city from above and had great weather for the best views. But to really get into flying, of course, more is required. So Stephie and Mario tried paragliding and I jumped out of an airplane. It was a super great experience for all of us and after our adventures, we actually wanted to go up in the air again right away.

We also explored the city and there is really something for everyone here. During our walk through the city, we saw water sports enthusiasts, musicians, tightrope walkers, bachelor parties, mountain crossers, and more. Really colorful and everyone just does what they feel like. But like everywhere in New Zealand, there were no crowds here. Probably because only 25% of the population live on the South Island and with around 4.8 million inhabitants, of which alone 1.6 million live in Auckland on the North Island, you can imagine that everything is a bit more manageable in this country. A dream for those of us who love peace and quiet ;-)

After a short trip to the relatively wild Queenstown, we continued to Te Anau, from where we wanted to go to Milford Sound, which is actually a fjord. Here we took part in a boat tour, which seemed really mystical in the rainy weather.
