The Death Valley

We came here without great expectations. An overnight stay on the way from the Grand Canyon to Yosemite Park. On our last attempt 30 years ago, we were strongly advised against passing through due to the temperatures.

So great was the surprise that awaited us here this morning........ Colorful rock formations, an endless salt lake, and a desert with a warning that the heat of the sand can melt plastic flip-flops at noon. Death Valley is said to be the hottest place and the lowest point in the USA.
